LOU X ALEKSI KOLMONEN

9.6.–16.11.2025

Lou is a curator-run exhibition and performance venue with community at its core. Since May 2024, it has organised an extensive programme supported by the Kone Foundation. As this funding period comes to a close, Lou’s team is taking a short pause to reflect and plan the next steps in its trajectory.

Over the next months, Lou will serve as the working space of artist Aleksi Kolmonen, who will activate the venue through events, exhibitions, and other gatherings.

Kolmonen depicts nude self-portraits inspired by schlager music and calls himself an angel.

Aleksi Kolmonen is a visual artist based in Helsinki, working primarily with constructed imagery. Kolmonen’s richly visual aesthetic aims both to document queer community and to be part of creating it. Through portraiture, he creates landscapes where one can be seen. Kolmonen’s Holy Trinity consists of death, karaoke angels, and schlager music. During his residency at Lou, he will continue exploring these themes.
